Rhone Valley Masterclass
The Rhone Valley is one of the most historic regions for wine production, with evidence of winemaking going back over 2500 years! So it's safe to say they know what they are doing! It is the second largest wine production area in France, and the first to have an Appelation Controlee regulation to guarantee to quality of wines produced in the region!
There are many styles of wine produced here: whites are complex and aromatic, made from grape varieties such as Viognier and Marsanne. Reds can be savoury and smoky or full bodied and spicy, made from Syrah, Grenache and a whole range of other grape you varieties you may not have heard of! And as well as that you can get some excellent desert wines!
On the Rhone Valley Masterclass evening you will taste 6 wines from the region, presented by the wonderful Linda Field: a certified WSET Educator who now lives in the Rhone Valley where she runs the wine school Auberge du Vin. The wines will include a selection of different styles from the region, but also some local specialities that you may not normally find in the UK! As well as this you will get an overview of the differet appellations of the Rhone Valley, and Linda will share her findings about current winemaking practices, trends and tourism, and bring you right about to date with this dynamic and exciting region!
