Red Wines of Ribera del Duero
When you think of Spain the first wine that comes to mind may well be Rioja, the most famous of the Spanish regions, but Spain has so much more to offer. On this special masterclass tasting we will be looking at the wines produced in Ribera del Duero, one the newer regions that has continued to go from strength to strength!
Located in the North of Spain on an elevated plateau, it is protected from some of the moderating influence of the ocean by mountains to the North. This means it is a climate of extremes with long days and cool nights, which helps contribute to the intensity and character of the wines produced there!
Stylistically the wines share some similarities to those from the famous Rioja region - Tempranillo is still the dominant variety and oak aging is still key to flavour, but the style of Tempranillo is influenced not just by the climate but also the soil and age of vines, and the other grape varieties that are used, often creating wines that have more intensity and power.
Join us on this evening for a unique chance to taste a variety of red wines from the region, including wines of different ages and grape varieties.
The tasting will include 7 different wines to try including some top of the range premium examples:
Aire de Protos 2016
Urban Ribera 2014
Arzuaga Crianza 2014
Protos Reserva 2011
Buró Vendimia Seleccionada 2014
You will also have use of ISO glasses, nibbles, tasting notes and presentation by expert tutor.
